35 startups from all over the world, including five Danish, had the opportunity to pitch their solutions at the Tech Tour Water Tour in Aarhus on Wednesday, May 22. The expert panel consisted of leading companies and organizations.

The morning and afternoon were packed with pitches on various water-related topics and networking between investors and startups. Michael Johansen, Development Manager in the innovation cluster Clean, was also very pleased with how the day went:

“What’s special about the Tech Tour is that it’s focused around water. The whole world is gathered in Aarhus – Entrepreneurs from USA, Europe and India. These are the 100 right investors and startups that are here today.

– At Clean, we are happy to be the driving force behind bringing the leading investor network to Denmark and that we have helped Danish water startups get through the eye of the needle and become one of the 35 startups.”

Five Danish startups among them

Tech Tour Water Tech is taking place on Danish soil for the second year in a row, which is why there were of course also Danish startups among the pitchers. You can meet them here:

  • Flow Loop has created a solution that recirculates shower water by up to 80% while saving 70% energy. Currently testing it at a Danish hotel.
  • NORDPHOS purifies wastewater through an innovative membrane filtration technology that can separate nutrients for fertilizer and energy.
  • EWA Sensors has created a compact sensor that can monitor the condition of all machines so that service can be planned and operations are not disrupted.
  • PHLIT is a startup from DTU that wants to disrupt the clean-tech industry by opening up the flexibility of electrical drivers. They want to connect the water sector with the power sector through Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things.
  • Wavepiston has created a scalable solution that can convert wave energy into electricity and desalinate water if needed.

Denmark is at the forefront on water

Earlier this month, Morten Bødskov, Danish Minister for Business and Industry, visited Aarhus to learn more about how Danish water technology companies can both increase exports and contribute to solving global water challenges:

“Denmark is at the forefront of water. We have some of the world’s most innovative companies delivering solutions to global challenges every day. In Central Jutland, we have created an epicenter for the development of water technology. We need to capitalize on that momentum. Because other countries are already looking to Denmark for green solutions, and water technology is no exception. Therefore, we must continue the good momentum so that Danish companies can continue to create tomorrow’s solutions that can be exported to the rest of the world and mark Danish water technology on the global stage, says Morten Bødskov, Minister for Business and Industry.
