Danish software company Trifork has partnered with Swiss Post to develop a new cloud-based platform for electronic patient records (EPR) in Switzerland. The collaboration draws on Trifork’s experience from the development of digital health solutions in Denmark, including the Danish Common Medical Card, the My Doctor app and the Danish Vaccination Register. By reusing Trifork’s existing standard software and solutions, the project will build a scalable and future-proof infrastructure adapted to Swiss conditions. The platform will be managed locally by Swiss Post with a focus on data security and protection of sensitive information.

“We are proud to bring our experience from Denmark’s digital health solutions to Switzerland. Together with Swiss Post, we want to create an infrastructure that promotes better and more coherent healthcare for both patients and healthcare providers,” says CEO of Trifork Digital Health, Jesper Grankær Carøe, in a press release.

The collaboration marks an important step in the digitization of the Swiss healthcare system and promises to deliver increased efficiency, safety and innovation.

A more efficient healthcare system

Swiss Post, which already operates the majority of the country’s EHR systems and covers 90 percent of existing records, will be responsible for operating the new solution. The current platform, which is certified according to Swiss legislation for electronic patient records, already meets strict data security and legal requirements. The upcoming cloud-based solution will replace the existing system and introduce advanced features such as e-prescriptions and vaccination management.

The platform will be built on modern standards such as HL7 FHIR, making it easier for both patients and healthcare professionals to access data. It will facilitate seamless digital communication and integration of new features that can strengthen collaboration across the healthcare system and ensure more efficient healthcare services.
