From the fall of 2024, a new life science hub will open its doors at Aarhus University. Brand new, state-of-the-art facilities will be put into use to streamline the process from research to business. This comes after no less than DKK 2 billion has been invested since 2015 in innovative research projects that have developed into pharmaceutical, biotech and medical companies.

“Companies that grow out of university research are inherently knowledge-intensive, and they make their living by commercializing their deep professional insights. Therefore, it means a lot that the university now has the opportunity to house some of its own spinout companies in the middle of campus, where they can be close to the academic environments and where the latest knowledge is constantly being produced,” Innovation Professor at the Department of Biomedicine, Claus Elsborg Olesen, tells Aarhus University and continues to praise the new initiative:
“For many life science companies, being able to move into fully functional laboratories will be extremely attractive in the start-up phase. At the same time, the central location will create optimal conditions for entering into collaborations with researchers at e.g. Department of Biomedicine and the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, thereby creating synergies for the benefit of all parties.”
The new hub will consist of 600 m² of modern offices and laboratories located at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.
