Achieving product-market fitA product-market fit is the point at which a product or service has fulfilled a demand, resulting in satisfied and enthusiastic customers. More is a crucial milestone for any digital product company on the road to success. But it requires a focus on the user and the problem at all times – and not falling in love with your own solution.
This is according to digital research and design company Resonate, which helps organisations validate digital product ideas and design solutions that resonate with users.
“First, you need to recognise the real problem you want to solve. That’s the biggest challenge. Often founders get an idea at the very beginning, fall in love with the solution, and keep building on it, adding new features with the hope that some of them will unlock the path to exponential growth. They forget the problem they set out to solve in the first place,” Resonate co-founder Davor Culjak begins.
Since its founding in 2019, Resonate has delivered dozens of successful projects and worked with digital products from the US, UK, Iceland, Switzerland, EU, and the Middle East. One of the keys to success has been a specialization in understanding what the real users need.
“In our experience, in many agencies and product companies, proper user research is often neglected and the term gets thrown around. We wanted to change that. At Resonate we developed a set of methodologies to pragmatically discover what users need, and then use those insights to design solutions that deliver a clear value for both users and for the business.” says Davor Culjak.
The importance of putting the user at the center of everything they do is also underlined by the need for startups to get it right the first time. Otherwise, they end up losing out in the market.
“You can no longer blindly develop something for years and then ‘fail fast’. Today, you have to be sure of your solution. Because the market is saturated, there is fierce competition and dozens of products competing for the very same users you are,” explains Davor Culjak.
That is where Resonate has found its product-market fit, in helping product companies focus on building the right things.
“This is what makes us different. This continuous focus on the problem and the user needs, is enabling us to gain new perspectives and come up with innovative solutions when designing the product.” smiles Davor Culjak.
