New virtual career fair seek to boost Nordic talent acquisition

Companies will relocate outside of Denmark without access to highly educated employees. #Nordicmade Career Fair is an unique initiative that aims to attract talent and keep Nordic startups within the region.

Talent seems to be in constant supply inside the startup ecosystem.

40-45 percent of companies within Region Hovedstaden has been unsuccessful in recruiting highly skilled employees according to a report from Dansk Industri.

Technological giants go where the talent is

When the talent doesn’t want to come to the company, the company must come to the talent.

That is the risk according to Nikolaj Lubanski, CEO of talent in Copenhagen Capacity. An organization that aims to promote investments and economic development in Greater Copenhagen.

His ambition is to strengthen the nordic position compared to other countries in Europe and attract large companies to the region.

“Greater Copenhagen has a strong tech-ecosystem that attracts global technology giants. But without access to the right highly educated employees, companies will naturally move to where the talent is.”

#Nordicmade Career Fair virtually unique

Nordicmade Career Fair is the first virtual career fair that caters solely to startups. The event is backed by the entire Nordic ecosystem by using the hashtag #nordicmade. Zenia W. Francker is Chief Relations Officer at Founders House that co-hosts the event with Graduateland.

“Talent is a huge demand within the ecosystem, and it is an area that we as an organization believe that we can make a contribution and a real difference.”

The aim has been to create a career fair that accommodates both recent graduates as well as the more experienced entrepreneurs according to Zenia W. Francker.

“There are a number of different jobs at Nordicmade Career fair. Starting at the entry level with unpaid internships, hardcore senior developers and ranging to co-founder positions. We cover the entirety of the startup job spectrum.”

Even though this is the first time the event is hosted, it has already peaked interest within the target group.

“The latest numbers show that more than 350 graduates have signed up. Furthermore, we aim to offer at least 200 jobs before the fair is hosted on the 15.”

A unique platform

The pooled ressources of #Nordicmade, Founders House and Graduateland has afforded a unique platform that enables the existing startup environment and its surroundings to gain insights into job opportunities with Nordic startups.

“Graduateland is a perfect partner to ensure a wide selection of candidates from Europe. They recently acquired Tyba – a platform for southern european talent with interest in relocating to work for a startup. A move that has made them the largest graduate career portal in Europe”, says Zenia W. Francker

She hopes that all stakeholders will spread the word across europe.
