Small businesses should also be able to make professional videos: “I needed our concept myself”

Press record. Submit recordings. Receive pre-edited video. Publish on social media.

The concept behind the Vedio platform can be explained as simply as that, if you ask the two co-founders Casper Holmenlund and Victor Ipsen Wolthers.

“It’s a concept that makes professional video content accessible to the many small businesses – not just the few big ones with high budgets,” says Victor Ipsen Wolthers and continues

“We train our customers to shoot some cool videos that they send in to us. We then do all the tedious editing work and send the finished video back to the customer.”

Two professions meet in one passion

The two founders have different professional backgrounds that come into play at Vedio. Casper Holmenlund is a trained photojournalist, but has worked for a number of years producing large-scale commercials for Bestseller and BMW, among others. Victor Ipsen Wolthers has a background in marketing. The two entrepreneurs have previously worked together on the app project Foundcrowd. Now they have joined forces again on a new project to make it easier and cheaper to create video content for social media.

“I’ve been in situations where I could have really used a product like Vedio, which could have helped me get a lot more content out. If you have to send out a professional videographer, it quickly becomes very expensive,” says Victor Ipsen Wolthers.

Casper Holmenlund has spent the last year getting the concept off the ground, and recently Victor Ipsen Wolthers also joined Vedio full-time.

Want to create a community

Vedio works as a subscription service where you get access to guidance, inspiration and of course complete video editing. A key part of the concept is the idea of community, which the two co-founders have big plans for.

“You can get videos edited in many places, but with Vedio we want to create a community around it. As a customer, you get access to a community with lots of inspiration, where you can be taken by the hand and get help to create good content. In our community, we want to help people become creators,” explains Casper Holmenlund.

The two founders see short videos as a trend in online marketing that is not going away. Quite the contrary.

“Video content doesn’t have to be big and fancy, and often very simple things perform much better. It needs to be authentic and at eye level. Our concept is a helping hand to continuously get good content out there,” adds Victor Ipsen Wolthers.

Ambitions for growing pains

Vedio has big plans and wants to grow. If the right investor suddenly comes along, Casper and Victor will consider that route to funding. Right now, however, Vedio is growing organically as more customers are added to the platform.

“Funding could be nice to have, but is not a need to have for us. We have a reasonable business, but it is clear that the right partner can turbocharge our growth”, says Victor Ipsen Wolthers and concludes:

“We’re working really hard to get through to the right decision makers and get some collaborations with agencies and marketers.”
